Message from our Patron, Mr Lachlan Hunter MP

As the Member for Central Wheatbelt and Shadow Minister for Racing and Gaming, I am honoured to serve as Patron of York Racecourse. 


As Australia’s first provincial racecourse, York stands as a proud symbol of our nation’s rich racing heritage – a place where tradition, community, and a love of racing have come together for more than 180 years.


Regional racecourses play a vital role in our communities – bringing people together, supporting local economies and keeping alive the spirit of country racing.  


I look forward to working closely with York Racing Inc. and the broader racing community to continue this great legacy and ensure that York remains a cornerstone of Australian racing for generations to come.
